Arriving from ferry or airplane

Publicos:
When you walk out to the road, there will be taxi drivers offering to
drive you to where you need to go.  These taxis are called publicos.
Publicos are vans that are a combination of a taxi and a bus the
drivers pick up more than one party at a time, and drive the parties
to where they want to go, in the order of what is closest.  There is a
set price per rider like $5 or something in that range.
If you take a publico, tell the driver that you are going to 392 Jose
Sueiro, but he might need more information than that...
The house is near 1) the ceiba tree, 2) the purple 3 story house (la casa violeta de tres pisos), 3) El Sombrero Viejo Bar, and has a
blue star (una estrella azul) at the peak of the roof.  The house is a
small, white, one story with red trim.

Publicos can also be called to pick you up from the house or wherever
else you might be.  They will bring you to Red beach or Sunbay, but
not really any of the other more remote beaches.  See the list of
publicos and other services in Vieques Events (available on-line or in print on the island).  They also provide ferry and flight schedules to and from the island.

Walking from ferry:
Walking's not bad if you have lots of energy.  It's about 7 blocks or
so from the ferry dock
Turn right onto the road that the ferry is on.  Turn left at 2nd
street (at bakery- panaderia, and an ATM, across street from the
Chinese restaurant) onto Calle (street) Benitez Guzman.  Take right at
Coconuts Restaurant (fenced in, outdoors, tables on cement pad-- good
Thai food on Fridays!) onto Calle Baldorioty de Castro.  Walk past
supermarket (good to know where that is), turn left at wide main
road Calle Muñoz Rivera.  Pass US post office, and take first right
onto Jose Sueiro.  The house is on the left on the second block, and
has a blue star (una estrella azul) at the peak of the roof.  The
house is a small, white, one story with red trim.
